Front Street will celebrate First Friday tonight

Charlie Campbell's picks for what to do and see this week in Dayton.

The beginning of February marks the countdown to Valentine’s Day, and tonight’s First Friday is a preview of the gift shopping, delicious meals and drinks, and creative local date ideas you can find at the independent, small businesses of downtown Dayton. You can also make your February First Friday an evening of completing challenges for the Downtown Dayton Winter Bingo game. Turn in your challenges for the chance to win some prizes.

And a First Friday Art Hop is at Front Street tonight, 5-9pm. Artists, curators, and craftsmen invite you to check out an insider's view of working studios, new exhibition openings, live music, and dinner with The Rolling Oasis Treat Truck.

The MetroParks Trails Challenge is back, with new trails and more time to complete them. This is a fun way to explore the region’s trails and a fun way to stay active outdoors on your own time and at your own pace. The 28 trails are for hiking, walking, cycling, paddling, running, mountain biking, and even horseback riding. Trails vary in length so there are many opportunities to invite family — including younger ones — on your outings. The new MetroParks Trails Challenge is a convenient way to improve your physical and mental health while connecting with nature and enjoying an active lifestyle.

The RED DAYTON Table Design Gala that was scheduled in April has been postponed. Save the Date: it will be Saturday, November 6, 6:30pm at the Dayton Masonic Center.
