Our stories today include:

The Valley Pike Vocs: The U.S. EPA's Superfund program cleans up some of the nation's most contaminated land. That includes a site in Riverside – the Valley Pike V-O-Cs. It was added in 2016, making it the newest superfund site in the Dayton region. Soon, the U.S. EPA will share recent groundwater sampling results taken there. These results may identify more homes and businesses eligible for free environmental testing. As WYSO’s Adriana Martinez-Smiley reports, the local…state and federal effort to inform neighbors of their potential exposure continues.

A Crave-inducing Look At Esther Price Chocolates: Esther Price Fine Chocolates was founded by its namesake in 1926. The longtime candymaker first worked out of her kitchen and sold to coworkers and neighbors. As the business grew, she built a factory around her home on Wayne Avenue in Dayton. Since then, her recipes have gained a dedicated following spanning generations. As the company nears its centennial, WYSO’s Ryann Beaschler got a look at how the company has remained a sweet staple.

WYSO Youth Radio: Area students are about to get out for summer break. To kick things off, we’re launching a new season of WYSO Youth Radio. We’ll hear stories from students across Dayton, Springfield, and beyond. WYSO intern Lee Wade introduces the seriies.

Who's Hungry: A retired chef and his husband have started a volunteer-led soup kitchen in Yellow Springs. They’re calling it Who’s Hungry, and want it to be a place where people can find community and enjoy gourmet food regardless of income level. For Culture Couch, WYSO Community Voices Producer Maria N. Ramirez has this story.

Studio Visit With Susan Byrnes: Eva Buttacavoli is the director of The Contemporary Dayton gallery, which is currently hosting the exhibition Lightness and Weight by artist and Studio Visit producer Susan Byrnes. In today’s episode, Byrnes speaks with Buttacavoli about her exhibition and the gallery’s role in shaping contemporary art in the region.

Bird Note: BirdNote tells vivid, sound-rich stories about birds and the challenges they face. Their mission is to "inspire listeners to care about the natural world — and take steps to protect it. As listeners tune in to the lives of birds, their connection with nature deepens. They become champions for conservation and stewards of places important to birds and people."
