Book Nook: Classic Keys: Keyboard Sounds That Launched Rock Music - An Interview With Alan Lenhoff

There are not that many books that I pick up and instantly react with expressions of Wow! and Awesome! This book elicited those reactions from me. What a gorgeous endeavor! This massive study of the electric keyboards that are identified with the musical legacies of many musicians from the mid to late 20th century is filled with incredible details and fabulous illustrations.

Alan Lenhoff is a devotee of these instruments and during this interview he talked about his favorite one, the prize in his collection. And it should be noted that one of the experts that the authors consulted when they were doing their research is our very own Peter Hayes, the man who handles all the audio production for this program and a keyboard wizard in his own right.

Best of the Book Nook bonus segment: "The Girl Who Gave Birth to Rabbits: A True Medical Mystery "Clifford Pickover (original recording made in 2000)

We had a little extra time to fill at the end of this program so we went back into our archive and pulled out one the most bizarre and fascinating interviews to ever be featured on the program. The noted scholar Clifford Pickover is intrigued by some very unusual historical hoaxes and he shared his delight over this outrageous material with our audience.

The Book Nook on WYSO is presented by the Greene County Public Library with additional support from Washington-Centerville Public Library,  Clark County Public LibraryDayton Metro Library, and Wright Memorial Public Library.
