The Montgomery County Children Services workers union has turned down an offer from the county that would have given its members a 5 percent raise. The union held an open vote on the offer Wednesday.

A county spokesperson issued a statement saying officials are “incredibly disappointed” that a majority of Professionals Guild of Ohio members voted down the offer.

Montgomery County officials say they will enact a comprehensive contingency plan to continue services normally provided by PGO employees. The county would not release the details of that plan.

The local PGO Union President, Jane Hay, says members hope the county will come back with another offer to the union before September 21st. That's the date the 60-day strike delay, issued by Judge Richard S. Skelton, comes to an end. After that, workers could potentially go on strike again.
