None of us are getting any younger. But many of us are living longer lives. As the birth rate holds steady or even declines slightly older Americans will continue to make up a growing proportion of our population. How we are aging and the things we can do to try to make our aging a less difficult process are becoming increasingly crucial.
Twenty years ago I talked to Mary Pipher about her book "Another Country: Navigating the Emotional Terrain of Our Elders." The topics we discussed were timely then and might seem even more timely now as the percentage of older Americans has continued to rise since we did this interview.
Pipher is an authority on the aging process and even though she's now twenty years older she continues to write about the subject today. Earlier this year she put out yet another book about aging.
