Best of the Book Nook: Island-the Complete Stories, by Alastair MacLeod

Alastair MacLeod wrote short stories that were like jewels. He published just one novel and fewer than 20 short stories during his lifetime. He was one of the most highly regarded writers in his native Canada. It was quite an amazing thing that the author came out to our studios to participate in this interview.

We talked about fishing and mining and the relationships between fathers and sons. MacLeod died in 2014.

The Book Nook on WYSO is presented by the Greene County Public Library with additional support from Washington-Centerville Public Library,  Clark County Public LibraryDayton Metro LibraryWright Memorial Public Library, and Microsun Lamps.
