WYSO Today: May 12, 2026

The Ohio Consumers' Counsel is asking utility officials to review AES's request to raise utility rates for its customers, citing concerns that data center costs could be shifted onto residential customers.

WYSO Today brings you news and weather for Dayton and Southwest Ohio. AES Ohio wants to raise its rates but the Ohio Consumers' Counsel is concerned that the increase could shift data center utility costs to residential customers; an Ohio resident that helped legalize same-sex marriage nationwide is concerned about growing attacks on LGBTQ rights; and a local HBCU radio station is celebrating a homecoming of its audio archives.

A chance meeting with a volunteer in a college computer lab in 1987 brought Mike Frazier to WYSO. He is a lifelong Daytonian and the host of Morning Edition.
