A funnel cloud looms near U.S. 36 in the St. Paris vicinity the evening of Aug. 15. The National Weather Service confirms a tornado touched down in the area. Damage assessments are continuing.

Miami and Champaign counties were hit by tornadoes Saturday evening, the National Weather Service has now confirmed.

The National Weather Service said video evidence shows a tornado near St. Paris in Champaign County, while another tornado struck near Fletcher in Miami County.

Damage assessments are continuing to determine the exact strength and path of both twisters. That information should be released soon.

The National Weather Service is still researching the damage in Champaign, Clark, and Madison counties from the Aug. 11 storms. Those results will also be released soon.

An EF1 tornado was confirmed in south Columbus on Aug. 11. Straight-line winds up to 100 mph also hit elsewhere in Franklin County, including the Upper Arlington area.

Surveyors are also looking into other reports of damage from both the Aug. 11 and 15 storms.
