Mental Health Resources:

  • The Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services has launched a new mental health hotline -- it’s called the COVID CareLine. Staff are available to provide emotional assistance to anyone struggling with mental health concerns due to the ongoing stress of the pandemic. You can call the COVID Careline at 1-800-720-9616. The Department of Mental Health and Addiction services says all calls will be confidential.

    (ADAMHS) will be partnering with Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley (GESMV) to launch the
    Miami Valley Warmline, which will provide free and confidential mental and behavioral health
    peer-support services to the community. 
    A warmline is a phone number people can call when seeking support or wanting to learn about
    behavioral health and recovery resources available to them in the community. This differs from
    emergency hotlines as this line is not intended for emergency calls. Warmlines also provide
    early intervention with emotional support that can prevent a crisis

Support for Survivors of Domestic Violence:

Food Distribution:

  • United Way of Greater Dayton's Helpline: Dial 211
  • Dayton Public Schools will continue to provide free breakfast and lunch to children under the age of 18 every Monday - Friday, between 9 a.m. and 12 noon, during each week of the state-mandated closure. Food will also be available during Spring Break. Parents MUST bring their students along during pickup. Click here for locations
  • The Senior Center of Yellow Springs is providing the community with grocery shopping and delivery.
    YS Center is taking phone calls, Monday - Friday between the hours of 10-12noon, from anyone interested in using our services. They can expect staff will take their phone number and credit card information, a return call - after 12noon - for the complete shopping list, and a delivery of groceries the following day between 10 - 1pm (a knock and drop)
     
    Grocery lists may be emailed to: info@ysseniors.org (please do not include credit card information on the email; do include name, address and phone number)
     
    Regarding credit/debit/ebt card information: staff receiving intitial grocery list will ask for "payment" information. Information includes: name on card, address of cardholder, expiration date, 3-digit security code If a debit/credit card, the card must be used only as a debit, therefore requiring 4-digit pin card Also, EBT card will require pin number
    All credit/debit/EBT card information is handled under strict "chain of custody" protocols and will be destroyed/shredded by the end of shopping.

Blood Donation:

The American Red Cross says there is an urgent need for blood due to the Coronavirus outbreak. Healthy and eligible donors may book appointments to give at https://www.redcrossblood.org

Small Business and Unemployment Assistance: 

  • Coronavirus and Unemployment Insurance Benefits FAQ from Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.
  • Has your job been impacted by COVID-19? You may be eligible for unemployment benefits. Visit: unemployment.ohio.gov If you’ve already filed an application, you do not need to add the mass-layoff number. Your application will still be processed.

  • Area businesses and nonprofits who have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic can now apply for low-interest loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Economic Injury Disaster Loan program at https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela/

  • Wireless internet access has been added to the parking lot in front of The Job Center in Dayton to allow people without home internet to access benefits like unemployment and food assistance, or to apply for jobs.  Residents can bring a smartphone, tablet or laptop to the parking lot outside the red job services door at eleven eleven Edwin C. Moses Boulevard. The network name is JFS_Public. You can also call job services at (937) 225-5627 to speak with a workforce specialist. Get Involved:

  • The Dayton Foundation and the United Way of the Greater Dayton Area, along with a coalition of philanthropic, government and other individual partners, have joined together to establish the COVID-19 Response Fund for Greater Dayton
  • Due to the increased need and emergency response due to COVID-19, The Foodbank is in need of volunteers. Please call us at 937-461-0265 x31 to volunteer. Volunteers over the age of 14 and under the age of 60 who are healthy, and not immune compromised are needed. It is important that we keep our volunteers healthy, too! ALL individuals entering the building will have their temperatures checked at entry and will immediately wash their hands and apply hand sanitizer. Anyone with a fever will not be permitted in The Foodbank.
  • The Yellow Springs Community Foundation has created the YSCF COVID-19 Community Support Fund to assist the many developing needs in Yellow Springs and Miami Township.
  • The Ohio Restaurant Association is looking for donations to it’s Ohio Restaurant Employee Relief Fund. Food service and gig employees have been hit particularly hard by the coronavirus business closures. There’s more information at OhioRestaurantRelief.org
  • Greene County Public Health is looking for additional donations of hand-sewn facemasks. The health department says the masks are needed for staff and patients at places like local health clinics, social service agencies, long term care facilities, and even for some first responders.
     
    Donations can be made by contacting Kim Caudill, Greene County’s Emergency Response Coordinator, at 937-374- 5627.
     
    There are instructions for making “sew” and “no-sew” masks on the CDC’s website.

Scams:

  • The Ohio Department of Insurance has issued a scam alert, saying individuals claiming to be licensed insurance agents are selling fake insurance products. The department says scammers are using fake telephone numbers and are heavily marketing so-called COVID-19 insurance. Scammers are also using robocalls and websites to market phony insurance policies. Ohioans can verify that an individual or entity is licensed to sell insurance on the Department of Insurance’s website --  insurance.ohio.gov
