Results for the Yellow Springs Village Council election are not expected to be released for another 11 days.
Greene County Board of Elections officials say the village is among four county jurisdictions with write-in candidates on yesterday’s ballot, and the county plans to use until the official-count date of Nov. 19, 2019 to review all ballots containing write-in votes.
"While unofficial votes for certified candidates and for questions and issues that appear on the ballot are counted on election night the Board will not know who each write-in vote was cast for until a careful review following election day. The Board of Elections will use the 11 days after the election to review all ballots which contain write-in votes to make certain that only write-in votes are counted for those who filed a valid declaration of intent to be a write-in candidate," Greene County Board of Elections Director Llyn McCoy said in a written statement.
Results for Beavercreek Township, Xenia Township and Xenia City would also be affected by the review.
In Yellow Springs’ five-way race for three council seats, Dean Pallotta is the write-in candidate. He faces council incumbents Marianne MacQueen and Lisa Kreeger, and challengers James Johnson and Laura Curliss.
In the election for Yellow Springs Mayor, two-year incumbent Pam Conine ran unopposed.
