GOP Leader in Montgomery County Resigns

On Monday, Montgomery County Republican Party Chairman Rob Scott announced he would resign. The 31 year old Scott cited irreconcilable differences with the party over strategy.

"There are a lot of establishment still alive and well in the county party, here in Montgomery County, and they disagreed with the direction I was taking it – to be hyper-grassroots," says Scott.

Scott says his aim was "to bring in new faces into the county party – to bring in African Americans, to bring in Latinos, to bring in youth, to bring in more women. Their direction is more money."

According to Scott, the divide among county Republicans is extensive. WYSO has reached out to the MCRP and has not received a response.

Scott will serve in his position until the MCRP central committee can find a new chairman.
