Clark County Family & Children Services hosting Summer Sky Event

Family and Children Services of Clark County has put together an event called Summer Sky. The organization wanted to provide a free, outdoor event for children and their families before the start of school next week.

Pam Meermans, of Family & Children Services, says this is the fifth time Summer Sky has been offered.  She feels it's a valuable opportunity for her organization to bond with the community.

"It's a time for us as an organization to offer up just a fun family day. Have a  positive opportunity I guess in the community and last but not by no means least, it's also a recruiting activity for us  for foster adoptive parents because that's always a need we have in our community," she said.

Activities at Summer Sky include everything from inflatable moonwalks and face painting, to science and animal exhibits produced by the COSI Science Center and the Boonshoft Museum. Food and live music is also planned.

The event is scheduled for Saturday,  from 1–5 p.m. at The Heritage Center in Springfield. Other Activities include science and animal exhibits, free horse-drawn carriage rides will also be offered during the event.
