What's Great in Dayton: July 20 - 26, 2012

Are there moments of spiritual awe that can occur in modern times? Do gods and goddesses walk amongst us? Can we still be moved by the beauty and power of myth? This evolving performance art installation will incorporate digital imagery (prints/video) and soundscapes.  And it is tonight…from 6 – 8pm at 8 North Main Street in downtown Dayton the old CVS space/ PNC Building.

Singer-songwriter David Poe will return to his native Dayton for a special benefit concert to support The Dayton Art Institute, tonight at 8 p.m. in the museum's NCR Renaissance Auditorium.

The Aullwood Audubon Center and Farm is partnering with the Clean Sweep of the Great Miami River to clean a section of Wolf Creek on Saturday, from 9:00 am – noon. This section of the Wolf Creek borders the former Dayton Tire & Rubber site.

Olive, an urban dive, celebrates their one year anniversary featuring art all month, submitted by their own staff! Daily specials and unannounced amuse-bouch (little delights/appetizers of appreciation from the kitchen and staff), special deals and more all through the month of July! Reservations encouraged BYOB! Patio is open!

Yellow Springs Kids Playhouse (YSKP) presents Mo's Night at the Opera on Saturday and Sunday at 7:30pm in the Antioch Amphitheater.

Hauer Music will host a celebration for its 75th anniversary on Sunday. From noon to 6 p.m., Patterson Boulevard will be closed to traffic and bands, drill teams and drum lines will perform. All Hauer customers and music lovers are invited to perform.
