Making Sense of the News: Navigating the Media Maze in the Age of Information Overload

Wright Library welcomes Mandy Shannon in a virtual program for teachers, parents, teens, and any news consumers wanting to build media literacy. Shannon will provide information about the spread of misinformation and disinformation, provide strategies and tips to analyze and evaluate the information we encounter in the news to identify bias, and reduce the effect of information overload that can lead to us falling for and sharing misinformation.

Mandy Shannon is an Associate Professor and Director of Teaching, Research and Engagement for the University of Dayton. She has several published works focusing on information literacy in the classroom and in the political world.
