Catacoustic Consort, an Early Music Concert
Catacoustic Consort, an Early Music Concert
An all-female ensemble associated with the Catacoustic Consort will perform in concert on February 5 as part of the Chamber Music in Yellow Springs season. Established by Annalisa Pappano in Cincinnati in 2001, the ensemble performs in the US only occasionally since Pappano now resides in Germany. The February 5 performance, which will feature Italian and French Baroque music, is the sole American appearance by the Catacoustic Consort this spring.Pappano will perform on several early stringed instruments, including the lirone and the pardessus de viole. Pappano will be joined by several other female musicians, including Joanna Blendulf (also on the pardessus), Melissa Harvey (soprano), and Elizabeth Motter (Baroque harp). A question-and-answer session with the performers will follow the concert.
