What's Great in Dayton: December 12 - 18, 2014
Bobak Ferdowsi, popularly known as NASA's "Mohawk Guy," will give two free presentations. His first is 7 p.m. tonight at Oakwood High School and on Saturday, he will speak at 2 p.m. at the National Air Force Museum. He will be talking about “Mars & Beyond: Curiosity and the Future of NASA.” These are free and open to the public.
The Annual Family Holiday Film Series is now on at THE NEON. Films are on Saturday at Noon and admission is FREE for kids 12 & under and only $2 for general admission. THE MUPPET CHRISTMAS CAROL will play Saturday.
An Automotive Fine Art Sale is Sunday, at the Carillon Brewing Co. from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. No admission is required. There are more than 100 automotive limited edition prints. Most pieces are numbered and signed by the artists, and many are autographed by the drivers depicted, and now there are some beers that were actually brewed right inside that building.
Oakwood Historical Society's Holiday at the Homestead is Sunday, 1 - 4 p.m. at Long-Romspert Homestead, 1947 Far Hills Ave. See the homestead decorated for the holidays. They will have music, desserts, and games for the whole family. Free.
Aullwood Candle Dipping is on Saturdays and Sundays. Dip candles in beeswax to create beautiful hand-crafted treasures. This is on Saturdays and Sundays and starts at 2:30pm.
WYSO will air a special two hour presentation called From Bully Pulpit to Civic Life . This is a public conversation between Antioch College President Mark Roosevelt and former Ohio Governor Bob Taft. The two met before a live audience on October 14 to share ideas about the state of American politics and to take questions from the 300 plus people in the audience. WYSO will air the program on Sunday from 3:00 to 5:00pm.
