What's Great in Dayton: September 5 - 11, 2014

DVAC's Exhibition Season Premier is tonight, and they are featuring Variations on Likeness. This exhibition is a study in classic portraiture presenting early 19th century tintype processes through cutting edge digital installations.

Street Beats is a welcome return we don’t nearly see enough. This is dance performed in outdoor venues. Carillon Park will be the place for DCDC to venture into great dance art performed before a live audience out of doors. This is tonight at 7:30pm.

The famous Shakespeare play, The Comedy of Errors, is in South Park, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 8:00 PM in the South Park Green. The show concerns two sets of twins separated as infants, and mixups that happen when one pair unwittingly visits the town where the other pair lives some 30 years later.

The Great Wright Brothers Aero Carnival is Saturday, 10:30am - 4:30pm at the Huffman Prairie Flying Field featuring aircraft displays, balloon animals, Bicycle Museum of America, bouncy houses and games, Carillon Historical Park booth, Five Rivers Metro Parks, hay rides and more.

Speak Out: Stop the Violence. This Anti-bullying Rally is on Saturday from noon to 7:00 pm at McIntosh Park. FLOC (For Love Of Children) is hosting this and there will be testimonials, inspirational, and informational speakers. There will also be all kinds of food and music, with an emphasis on the positive ways in which our community can gather together encouraging our children to respect one another.

Charlie Campbell wants to spread the news of so many wonderful aspects in the greater Dayton area. He is a cheerleader and a real believer that our area is the place to be. He has been active in this area for almost 40 years and you can hear him weekly at WYSO.
