Moraine officials say they’re seeking more information about the news some General Motors jobs may be coming to the city.

On Wednesday, President Donald Trump announced these and hundreds of other new auto industry jobs as part of a new $700 million investment at GM’s Moraine, Parma and Toledo facilities.

And Moraine city officials say they’re hoping for more specifics about what to expect under the deal.

Although the Pinnacles no longer exist physically, their role in aviation keeps this local landmark alive.

WYSO Curious is our series where listeners ask questions and WYSO producers find the answers. Today’s question comes from Jeff Wilson in Vandalia. Jeff had seen a photo in the Wright Brothers Museum of a curious geological formation called the Pinnacles, and he wanted to know more about this Dayton Landmark.

A class-action lawsuit alleging Fuyao Glass America failed to pay overtime and give workers adequate breaks is moving forward in the courts. The global Chinese auto glass maker employs more than 2,000 workers at its Moraine plant.

WYSO's Jerry Kenney spoke with Dayton Daily News Investigative Reporter Tom Gnau who says the lawsuit’s outcome could have worldwide implications in the manufacturing industry. The case was filed in Dayton federal court last year.

Police say a 12-year-old boy who had a loaded handgun in his backpack at his Moraine school has been taken into custody.

Sgt. Jon Spencer with the Moraine police tells the Dayton Daily News that officers were called to the Montgomery County Learning Center in Moraine around 8 a.m. Monday. Spencer says staff members were notified of the weapon and recovered it from the student. No injuries were reported.

It is unclear why the student brought the weapon to school.

More than a dozen state republican lawmakers are urging Fuyao Glass America workers not to unionize. Last week, workers at the Moraine plant applied for authorization with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). They cited safety issues and a lack of communication with company leadership.
