Best of the Book Nook: Good Harbor by Anita Diamint

Vick Mickunas' 2002 interviewed with Anita Diamint

Anita Diamint made her only appearance on the show when her novel "Good Harbor" came out in paperback. Diamint is probably best known for her novel "The Red Tent." That book was one of those hand-sell favorites of bookstore clerks. It started out slowly then built momentum and ended up selling millions of copies.

Breast cancer is one of the themes in "Good Harbor" and during the interview we had a very good discussion about this disease that has impacted so many people. The author has written widely about practices in Judaism. She didn't plan to do that initially but she just kept identifying niches that needed filling.

The Book Nook on WYSO is presented by the Greene County Public Library with additional support from Washington-Centerville Public Library, Clark County Public Library, Dayton Metro Library, and Wright Memorial Public Library.
