WYSO Weekend

In this edition of WYSO Weekend:

For some young people, foster care can bring up bad memories, But others can remember it as a beginning - the door to a new life. That’s how it was for our young person in this week’s Dayton Youth Radio. Here’ Project Coordinator, Basim Blunt.

The recent closure of Good Samaritan Hospital in west Dayton has sparked protest against Premier Health by some community residents. A coalition of westside clergy groups has also filed a federal civil-rights complaint alleging the closure is discriminatory. And now, a new proposal at the statehouse aims to revoke Premier’s non-profit status. We spoke with Cox Media reporter Cory Frolik for more on the proposed legislation.

Ohio State football fans wake up last week to a new reality, the Urban Meyer era is ending.  After a season which began with a suspension and recurrences of headaches caused by a brain cyst, Meyer says he’s stepping away from coaching. WOSU’s Nick Evans reports, the coach who led the team during Meyer’s suspension takes over as head coach.

Work at a company for a while and eventually own it... or at least, a nice chunk of it. That’s the idea behind Employee Stock Ownership Plans ... or ESOPs. Currently, nearly 7-thousand businesses in the U. S. have them. And a recent survey by the ESOP Association suggests companies that do, may see their employees become more productive as a result. From OPR member station WCPN, Adrian Ma looks at why. His story starts at a bar in Cleveland.

And to finish out today’s program we’ve got a repris of sorts - a live performance from Wednesday night’s Kaleidoscope with Juliet Fromholt here she is introducing her special guest - host of The Jewel Case on WYSO, Tod Widner.
