What's Great in Dayton: June 1 - 7, 2018

At the Great Dayton Adventure Race you get your team and either race with competitors or a more relaxed pace in the non-competitive division. You hunt for clues and complete challenges downtown Dayton. Teams start anytime during the 2-hour window of 5 to 7pm tonight.

The Ohio Mini-Canvention is a huge show of beer and brewery collectibles. There are labels, signs, cans, coasters, bottle caps, posters, bottles, and the list goes on! Today and Saturday in Lebanon in the Warren County Fairgrounds.

Orchid Walk: visit this 450-acre preserve which is a haven for many rare plants and animals. It is on Saturday, 11am to 1pm at Cedar Bog Nature Preserve, off U.S. 68, in Urbana.

The Dayton Gay Men Chorus asked LGBTQ youth to submit poetry or essays that tell what it is like to be young and LGBTQ in America today. Three lucky young people were chosen and their words have been set to music. This concert is the world premiere of these talented young lyricists and it is on Saturday, 8pm, Victoria Theatre.

Bring your family and friends to Aullwood and explore their six miles of trails; meet the animals at the farm and the center; and look for native birds!  There is no cost at Aullwood's Farm and Nature Center on Sunday from 1pm to 5pm.

All are invited to the Annual Gathering and Meeting of the Tecumseh Land Trust at the McCulloch "Fen Run Farm" at 2pm, on Sunday. There is a tour of the property, including woods and wetland and child-friendly activities, light refreshments, and music also provided.

First Baptist Sings, featuring classical and contemporary choral works from Franz Josef Haydn to Duke Ellington. The Dayton-area premiere of a spirited new arrangement of "Down by the Riverside" is also there. This is Sunday, 5pm at the First Baptist Church, 111 West Monument Avenue, downtown Dayton.
