What's Great in Dayton: January 9 - 15, 2014

The Ice Rink at RiverScape MetroPark is open now.

A young man with his bicycle, fresh from cross-country travel, shows up at the Greenwich Village door of his 91-year-old grandmother. She takes him in. Soon we see the awkward, sometimes funny way they try to connect and help each other. 4,000 Miles is a new play at the Dayton Theater Guild and it opens tonight.

Muse Machine presents Oliver! The most talented young performers across western Ohio are in a version of the show that the Sunday Times called "A massive hit... it explodes like a massive firecracker... you can't ask for more!" This is next week and opens on Thursday at The Victoria Theatre.

Spend your Friday or Saturday night skating near the river, under a beautifully lit canopy! Take in the sights and sounds of downtown while sipping hot chocolate. Bring your family, co-workers, sweetheart or friends to skate at MetroParks Ice Rink! No registration required.

Interested in joining the Dayton Gay Men's Chorus? The Winter New Member Registration is right now. They rehearse on Mondays at 07:00 PM. Fill out their form online as completely as possible and they will contact you. Registration closes on January 19.

Do you want to get outside more in 2015? Do you want to see all that the MetroParks have to offer in the Miami Valley? Do you want to make awesome, new friends with common interests? Join the Dayton Hikers New Year's resolution challenge: hike at every park in Five Rivers MetroParks. On your Facebook find DaytonHikers.
