What's Great in Dayton: January 26 - February 1, 2018

The Yellow Cab Tavern has their Mid-Winter Beach Party tonight beginning at 6pm. Working with Catholic Social Services and Goodwill Easter Seals bring some donations of clothing to the party, which Goodwill will turn into vouchers for winter clothing for families relocated to Dayton.

You can take a class to learn how Audubon painted birds and you create your own masterpiece using the technique Audubon mastered. Bring your own watercolor paint and brushes; other materials will be supplied. This is at the Aullwood Audubon Center and Farm and the class is  Saturday, 10am - 3pm.

A beautiful, award-winning documentary about Mexican singer Chavela Vargas has two special screenings on both Saturday and Sunday, at Noon. The director (who grew up in Dayton and graduated from The Miami Valley School) presents her documentary and participates in a Q&A at the Neon Movies.

There is a Downsize, Rightsize, Simpli-size Seminar and Resource Expo for baby boomers, seniors and those who love them. It brings together those who help baby boomers and seniors live an empowered life; an easier life, a life of their own choosing. It is Sunday, 1 to 5pm at the Mandalay Conference Center and there is no cost.

The Bernstein Songfest explores the wide range of works created by Leonard Bernstein. The lovely afternoon of music pays tribute to this groundbreaking American composer and musician. It is Sunday, 3pm in the Dayton Art Institute.

When a pilot crashes and tells of conflict in the outside world, Diana, an Amazonian warrior in training, leaves home to fight a war, discovering her full powers and true destiny. This screening of Wonder Woman is part of the Air Force Museum Theatre's Hollywood Film Series featuring new and classic Hollywood blockbusters.  It is Sunday at 4pm.
