What's Great in Dayton: February 20 -26, 2015

A dinner, screening and discussion of an award winning film, "The Human Face of Climate Change," is on tonight, 5-8pm at Christ Episcopal Church, in downtown Dayton. Come, learn and articulate solutions for a problem that is not limited to the Third World. No admission charge for the event…"love offerings" gratefully accepted.

On Saturday at 10:30 am. at the Sunwatch Indian Village there will be a presentation about “Tracking down the Homes of the Mound Builders.”

A West Point graduate and Iraq War veteran will present "Waging Peace in Difficult Times." This is a free workshop from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., tomorrow, Saturday, at the Dayton International Peace Museum. The speaker is the Peace Leadership Director for the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation and is also the author of a series of books on the use of nonviolent practices to improve the quality of life and to end war.

Children 8 to 18 are spending more than seven hours a day in front of a screen. The result is an effect dubbed "nature deficit disorder." Those who'd like to join local efforts to connect children and families with nature should attend the fourth annual Miami Valley Leave No Child Inside Summit. This is Saturday, from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Wegerzyn Gardens MetroPark.

World-renowned electric violinist Mark Wood will lead Stivers Orchestra students on Saturday in Electrify Your Strings, a concert of rock music. 

Sunday is a Day of Caring. See how churches, community organizations, and public foundations host, prepare, and serve this annual pancake brunch.
