What's Great in Dayton: December 15 - 21, 2017

A Christmas Story. Remember the film? Now you can see it in a fresh new way. All the elements from the beloved movie are in this play including, the "double dog dare ya" with the flagpole at school, Ralphie's dad's the leg lamp, and much more -- all live on stage at the Victoria Theatre this weekend.

The Miami Valley Symphony Orchestra presents two holiday performances at the Dayton Masonic Center. It includes holiday orchestral favorites and feature dancers from the Gem City Ballet Company, and two guest soloists. The program will be about 75 minutes long and is designed to entertain the whole family. Come get in the holiday spirit! This is Saturday at 2 and 7pm and there is no cost.

The 3nd Annual Live Nativity is on the green space at Far Hills and Dixon. There are Mary, Joseph, Baby Jesus, town folk and the Three Kings, as Bethlehem comes alive. The crèche scene will include live animals and beautiful lights! Warm beverages and treats will be served. Winter campfires will keep you warm! The Christmas Shop  offer many choices for stocking stuffers, holiday confections, cold weather wear, jewelry- the last bits you'll need for your Christmas festivities!

Aullwood Candle Dipping is on Saturdays and Sundays in December starting at 2:30pm. Learn about candles, bees, lighting and conservation in this fun hands-on program. The glow of a dipped candle is the perfect way to "warm up" a cold winter night. Please note that candles are now made from pure beeswax.

The Nutcracker: With magical choreography, delectable sets, and stunning costumes, the story of little Clara and her adventures in the Land of Sweets comes to life. There are ten performances so close to the Christmas holiday so this is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate with family and guests. Make this enchanting story ballet a part of your family's holiday tradition! Now through December 23.

Charlie, It’s Great In Dayton, Campbell

Charlie Campbell wants to spread the news of so many wonderful aspects in the greater Dayton area. He is a cheerleader and a real believer that our area is the place to be. He has been active in this area for almost 40 years and you can hear him weekly at WYSO.
