What's Great in Dayton: December 14 - 20, 2012

All of us have appreciated the sights, sounds, and smells of Glen Helen….and the wild flowers, raptors, tree frogs, the great blue heron...And almost all poets have nature poems. During this holiday/solstice season those works will be shared, at a poetry reading, "In the Spirit of the Glen,"on today from 7-9:00p.m. Vernet Ecological Center at
405 Corry St in Yellow Springs.

Wright State University's Student Union will once again be transformed into an English manor of the Renaissance era for the 30th annual Madrigal Dinner from tonight, and this weekend where you will step back into a holiday celebration as it would have happened in the Middle Ages.

The final free film on Saturday at noon in downtown Dayton is at The Neon. They are offering ARTHUR CHRISTMAS and these films are free for children 12 & under and only $2 for everyone else.

Tonight, Saturday and Sunday, at The Schuster Center, you can see the Dayton Ballet doing the Nutcracker. But now, for the first time in many years, the full Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra will join the Dayton Ballet to perform this beautiful score - live. This timeless classic takes on new life this season!

And Sunday at the Schuster from 2:00-2:45pm, you can see and hear me and two good guys playing our holiday tunes a la accordion. And you can check out Wintergarden Wonderland Windows. Come see the magical Rike's department store holiday window displays!

Gotta go…..
