What's Great in Dayton: April 3 - 9, 2015

Tonight is First Friday in downtown Dayton and the Oregon District; 5-10 p.m. This is a free art hop featuring exhibit openings at the galleries, along with a variety of entertainment options, arts demonstrations, live music and more.

Comic Book Studio Day is tomorrow, Saturday, 9am - 3:30pm. at the Rosewood Art Center. Learn to write and illustrate like the pros, talk to comic book experts, and enjoy free live demos! The workshops are a la carte - sign up for as many as you like. Separate workshops are offered for ages 10 - 16 and ages 16+.

Do you yearn to heal, redeem and restore Ohio's forests? On Saturday at the Highlands Nature Sanctuary, meet at 9:45 am and they will shuttle to the work site promptly at 10am. No experience necessary! Human beings are born to recognize plants in the woods. Soon your hands and eyes do all the thinking for you and you can simply relax and enjoy the forest.

Get a first-hand look at the aircraft restoration process during the Behind the Scenes Tours at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. Registration for tours through August 2015 is now open. The free tours take place every Friday from 12:15-3 p.m. Space is limited, so advance registration is required.

Go green by protecting and cleaning green spaces in honor of Earth Day. Join Five Rivers MetroParks' 28th annual Adopt-a-Park event from 9 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 18. A diverse crew of volunteers of all ages, accessibility levels and backgrounds join forces during this event to make our parks and river corridors healthier, more attractive and friendlier places to visit.
