Ohio Ranks Last In Policies For Undocumented Immigrants

When it comes to how well states provide for the health of undocumented immigrants, Ohio ranks as the worst in the country, according to a new report released this week.

The University of California’s Global Health Institute analyzed state laws and policies, such as health insurance coverage and workplace protections.

"Ohio has a long way to go to provide an environment for all of its residents that promotes health living conditions," says Steven Wallace, co-author of the report.

Those conditions include appropriate access to health care, higher education, and feeling secure in the communities they live. In all, Wallace says, Ohio has the most exclusionary policies in the country. Followed by Alabama, Arizona, Indiana and Mississippi.
