Niki Dakota sat down with Marty Romie, the director of Dayton’s Big Brews and Blues Gala, which took place at RiverScape Metro Park in Dayton on May 21, 2016.

This was the seventh annual Big Brews and Blues. All of the proceeds from the event go to Diabetes Dayton, a 53-year-old organization that helps adults and children manage diabetes. According to the Big Brews and Blues website, this year’s proceeds helped children with diabetes attend summer camp.

The festival featured blues musicians such as pianist Jimmy D. Rogers, Columbus-based guitarist Micah Kesselring, and Dayton-based Shakin’ Dave Hussong. Craft beers at the festival were all American-made, including nine from the Miami Valley.
