Wright-Patterson Air Force Base says they have increased security measures on base and closed entry gate 26A indefinitely.
Marie Vanover, Director of Installation with Wright-Patt Public Affairs, says they will not release any details behind the increased security but says it was tied to other events.
“It is the day-to-day responsibility to ensure the safety, security and operation at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. As part of that responsibility we reviewed incidents that had occurred across other Air Force installations and have taken various measures to continue to ensure the safety and security of the base. One of those measures including the closure of the 26A.”
The gate closure caused some problems for travelers on Monday morning and until the gate is reopened, officials are have designated Gates 1A, 12A, and 15A as alternate entry ways onto Wright-Patt.
