If I Were You

“If I Were You” was written by pulp fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard and tells the story of Little Tom Little, a circus dwarf who dreams of being full-sized and is forced to contend with the consequences when his dreams come true.

It was performed by students from Fairmont High School in Kettering, Ohio, along with Nancy Cartwright, the voice of Bart Simpson on the long-running television series “The Simpsons,” and a Fairmont High School alum.  Student performers including Kevin Erman, Caroline Grogan, Jay Kain, Allie Dyer, Katherine Ygbuhay and
Tim Green.  The role of the narrator was performed by Dayton television anchor Pete Scalia.

WYSO recorded “If I Were You” September 19 and 20, 2009 during live performances in the recital hall at Fairmont High School before a live audience of more than 200 people.

 

Jerry began volunteering at WYSO in 1991 and hosting Sunday night's Alpha Rhythms in 1992. He joined the YSO staff in 2007 as Morning Edition Host, then All Things Considered. He's hosted Sunday morning's WYSO Weekend since 2008 and produced several radio dramas and specials . In 2009 Jerry received the Best Feature award from Public Radio News Directors Inc., and was named the 2023 winner of the Ohio Associated Press Media Editors Best Anchor/News Host award. His current, heart-felt projects include the occasional series Bulletin Board Diaries, which focuses on local, old-school advertisers and small business owners. He has also returned as the co-host Alpha Rhythms.
