With the midterm elections just a couple weeks away, WYSO producers have been out talking to would-be voters around the Miami Valley. We wanted to know how people are feeling about the elections, and how they plan to vote in November.
Today, we hear from some rural Ohioans recorded at a recent antique tractor and farm-equipment show at the Greene County Fairgrounds in Xenia, where many people expressed strong support for the Republican party and the Trump administration.
Many we spoke to also expressed frustration about the country’s current political climate.
Greene County man: Confusing. It’s a mess.
Greene County woman: It’s definitely confusing that it’s gotten to the way that it is.
Greene County man: I think it’s a shame what’s going on in the country right now. It’s just craziness.
Greene County man: Everybody is acting like a damn fool. They've got to stop.
Highland County man: The abortion thing, I think, has really torn people apart in this country, which I am against abortion, so that’s where I’m at.
Darke County woman: I live in a rural area of Darke County and it’s heavily Republican, and I just think that it’s pretty sad that we have people attacking each other over our political differences. We need sane conversation. We don’t need people yelling at each other and hurting each other. That’s wrong.
