Charlie Tipton and Tony Herdman Talk Writing, Recording and Hog Jam

After Tony Herdman's band competed in Canal Street Tavern's Dayton Band Playoffs, they wanted to thank the fans that came out and supported them throughout the competition.  So they decided to host an evening of food and music outdoors, and Hog Jam was born. Over the past 8 years, the event has grown into a two day music festival with a growing lineup and audience.

Tony Herdman and fellow musician Charlie Tipton visited the WYSO studios for an acoustic set on Kaleidoscope.  The pair spoke gave listeners a preview of Hog Jam and chatted with host Juliet Fromholt about writing, recording and finding inspiration in music.

Hog Jam is August 23 and 24 at the Franklin VFW Campground.

Juliet Fromholt is proud to be music director at 91.3FM WYSO. Juliet began volunteering at WYSO while working at WWSU, the student station at her alma mater, Wright State University. After joining WYSO's staff in 2009, Juliet developed WYSO’s digital and social media strategy until moving into the music director role in 2021. An avid music fan and former record store employee, Juliet continues to host her two music shows, Alpha Rhythms and Kaleidoscope, which features studio performances from local musicians every week. She also co-hosts Attack of the Final Girls, a horror film review podcast.
