Book Nook: A History of America in Thirty-Six Postage Stamps, by Chris West

Chris West began collecting stamps when he was a boy in England. A couple of years ago West published a collection of essays inspired by various British stamps. Each essay was a reflection upon the British history evoked by a particular stamp. West knows his British stamps and his British history.

His most recent foray into writing essays based upon stamps was more challenging. In "A History of America in Thirty-Six Postage Stamps" West has written about American stamps and their linkage to historical events in this country. This required extensive research because West was not as well versed in regard to our stamps and our history. He has done a fine job nevertheless.

In this conversation he describes how he went about it. You can also locate and hear our previous interview in the Book Nook archive.
