Book Nook: The Better Sister, by Alafair Burke

Alafair Burke returned to the show to discuss her latest novel "The Better Sister." I had her on the show last year for her book "The Wife" and even though these are stand-alone works there is definitely a linkage between them. This is a murder mystery/domestic thriller that will have her readers nervously flipping pages late into the night.

If you are a fan of James Lee Burke's Dave Robicheaux series the name Alafair probably rings a bell. Well, Dave's daughter Alafair Robicheaux has many biographical similarities with Alafair Burke. They are both former prosecutors turned novelists and to hear their fathers tell it; both Alafairs are geniuses. We had a bit of a chuckle about that portrayal of the fictional Alafair during this interview. You see, Alafair Burke comes by her writing prowess through a very potent bloodline; her dad is the crime fiction writer James Lee Burke.

The Book Nook on WYSO is presented by the Greene County Public Library with additional support from Washington-Centerville Public Library,  Clark County Public LibraryDayton Metro LibraryWright Memorial Public Library, and Microsun Lamps.
