Bob Evans Sells Springfield Meat Processing Center

Bob Evans Farms has sold its Springfield sausage production facility. The plant has been sold to a California-based private equity firm.

The plant, which makes soups, gravy and sausage, along with another production plant in Bidwell, Ohio and Bob Evans' former headquarters in Columbus, were all sold to New Mill Capital.

New Mill Capital purchased the Springfield facility for $90,000. As a result of the plant's sale, 52 jobs will be lost when the company officially closes later this year.

A Bob Evans spokesman says it was announced last year that the sausage plant would close within 12 months.

Bob Evans will continue to operate its transportation center in Springfield's Airpark and continue with its partnership with the city's Global Impact Stem Academy.
