Bob Evans develops partnership with Global Stem Academy

Bob Evans Farms is partnering with Springfield's Global Impact Stem Academy. The restaurant chain plans to offer internships and curriculum development for the academy.

State Senator Chris Widener says the partnership with Bob Evans will give students a rare opportunity to get first hand experience in the food and farm industries.

The company is offering not only to help develop the curriculum but offering internships in their food science laboratories, food safety laboratories, and then also their restaurants and logistic operations around the state and particularly here in our region.

Widener says the academy's connection with Bob Evans could have long term positive effects on the state's economy since one in seven jobs are fuel, food or fiber-related.

Hopefully it spurs some interest in young people today and to the type of jobs and opportunities that exist out there in employers in Ohio today that's the whole key.

The Global Impact Stem Academy is expected to open next school year in the old South High School.
