Antioch Word Alumni Stories: Al Shoemann, Early 1950s Student

During Antioch College's 2017 Reunion, alumni visited the WYSO studios and shared their stories with current Antioch students and WYSO staff members. This edition of the Antioch Word features alumnus Al Shoemann who attended Antioch College in the early 1950s. In this interview during the 2017 Reunion, former Miller Fellow Thomas Amrhein talks with Al about his "onward and upward' journey from being a farm boy in Illinois to entering the world of radio. He also speaks about his co-op experiences, interacting with Rod Serling, and his perception of Antioch's image during the McCarthy era.

This interview was edited by Rachel Isaacson, current Miller Fellow at WYSO and co-host of The Antioch Word, a podcast for the Antioch College community, written and produced by Antioch College students working at WYSO.
