Antioch College is once again, a fully accredited educational institution. Today the Higher Learning Commission granted the status to the college, which has been working aggressively to regain accreditation since it re-opened in 2011.

Provost and Vice-President of Academic Affairs, Lori Collins-Hall, says it was Antioch alumni who positioned the college for a comeback.

“From that point forward the faculty and staff of the college were instrumental in putting in place all of the basic pieces, from curriculum, to student programs, student support services, recruitment efforts," said Collins-Hall. "So we’ve done a great deal of heavy lifting at the college.”

But Antioch President Dr. Thomas Manley says accreditation is just the start.

“It gives us great momentum as we move forward to not only reinvent Antioch College but to contribute to a rethinking of the very model that small colleges are pursuing," said Manley. "And that’s critical because it’s a very challenging time.”

Manley says those challenges are rising tuition for students and enrollment. And with its new accreditation, the college will focus on those issues over the next four years.
