Vick Mickunas' 2002 interview with Sarah Vowell, plus a bonus interview from 1996 with the late writer Gary Paulsen

The humorist Sarah Vowell appeared on the program to discuss her
hilarious essay collection "Take the Cannoli: Stories From the New
World." 21 years ago Sarah was going to be making an appearance in
Dayton along with the humorist David Sedaris. They are two very funny,
iconic, public radio personalities. WYSO and the Dayton Metro Library
brought them to Memorial Hall. That was the first appearance for either
of them in Dayton. It was truly a memorable evening for me. The folks at
the Dayton Metro Library asked me to introduce them that night. The venue
was sold out; standing room only, and it remains one of the great
thrills of my life.

Book Nook Bonus Segment: Gary Paulsen was a much beloved writer of books for young readers. He wrote over 200 books and was hugely popular and successful. Gary Paulsen died in October. I spoke to him 25 years ago about this sequel to his enormously popular novel "Hatchet." Of the interviews I did with Gary this one remains my favorite.

The Book Nook on WYSO is presented by the Greene County Public Library with additional support from Washington-Centerville Public Library, Clark County Public Library, Dayton Metro Library, and Wright Memorial Public Library.
