Drew Schemmel doesn’t have to worry about what he’s going to wear each morning. He pulls on a shirt that says PGO, for Pretty Girls Only. That’s his clothing line where he designs T-shirts and sweatshirts at Centerville High School. He has some thoughts to share on being a young entrepreneur.
My name is Drew Schemmel. I have a big imagination and believe my ideas could be the next big thing. My story is about being a young entrepeneur and how I began my own clothing line with my brother Nick and my friend Jordan.
We began selling clothing items last fall. The line is called “Pretty Girls Only,” otherwise known as just “PGO”. It all started as just an idea to me. In the Summer of 2017, Jordan, Nick and I went to a silk screener in Dayton and placed our first order. We ordered 20 t-shirts, each shirt cost $6 and we sold every shirt for $15.
I actually made money from just a little idea that I started with my brother and my friend. PGO is really personal to me because I really believe in it, and there’s a lot of people that really believe in it too and like it as much as I do. And I just like how it looks and everything. I just created a new design, and the new design has PGO on the front of the sweatshirts and Pretty Girls Only down the sleeve.
Some ups and downs of being an entrepreneur at a young age; the first time we got shirts we sold them all in one day. But then there’s other times when we’re sitting here with a bunch a clothes that we spent money on. Sometimes people already have everything or they don’t like them or it just takes awhile.
We haven’t have any big celebrities wear our clothing line. We could possibly do that buy contacting somebody’s manager and sending them some shirts. We’ve had a couple of local celebrities wear our stuff. For example, one is Little Eric the Demon. He’s a rapper out of Dayton, and he’s worn his PGO sweatshirt in a couple of his music videos.
I want to get the word out there about my clothing line, and I want it to kinda blow-up. I believe that my ideas can be the next big thing. People can be inspired by doing what you want and doing what you believe in and doing what you like.
