Ohio Voters Pass 84 Percent Of School Levies

Voters in Ohio have passed 84 percent of school levies on ballots across the state.

The Ohio School Boards Association says voters approved 85 of the 101 school funding issues on local ballots in the state Tuesday.

The association's legislative director Damon Asbury notes that many of the issues passed were renewal levies, and that new funding issues didn't fare as well.

The association says 63 of 66 renewal school tax issues were approved, a 95-percent passage rate. But 22 of 35 new school tax issues were approved, a passage rate of 63 percent.

Last May, Ohio voters Ohio approved 102 of 148 school tax issues, a passage rate of 69 percent.
