Call for Artists! Rosewood Arts Center is now looking for artist vendors to participate in the 36th Annual Art on the Commons Fine Arts and Crafts Festival. Located in a scenic park within the vibrant Dayton area, the festival's live music and top notch artists make Art on the Commons a destination for several thousand art lovers every year. Artist applications will be accepted from January 1 - March 31, 2024, with jurying occurring in April 2024. RENI GOWER (Mechanicsville, VA), GEOmatrix: The Perfect Proof VELI KESSLER (Kent, OH), Structural DeviationMarch 11 – April 13
Reni Gower cuts paper to into “perfect” forms (circles, squares, and triangles) to create immersive installations. GEOmatrix will create a space where the viewer experiences luminous and contemplative designs that instill a sense of respite and mindfulness. Using sacred geometry referencing Celtic and Islamic forms, Gower explores how these patterns create connectedness across cultures and people and "shared humanity." Gower is retired faculty from the Painting and Printmaking Department at Virginia Commonwealth University, a curator for Wylie Contemporary Inc and has exhibited her work across the world. She holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from Syracuse University, a Master of Arts degree from University of Minnesota-Duluth, and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Eli Kessler’s sculptures explore the history of entertainment, technology, and materiality. His sculptures are created from repurposed objects, steel, carved wood, vinyl, and other mixed media examine particular artifacts, rituals, and cultural phenomena. Kessler earned a BFA from Tyler School of Art, Temple University and an MFA in sculpture from Virginia Commonwealth University. He is currently an Assistant Professor in Sculpture and Expanded Media at Kent State University.

We've moved! Previously located at Smile A While in Centerville, we now meet at the Kranz. A weekly gathering of fun loving people who love to dance! From 8-9 learn the dance of the month; anything from blues and tango, waltz and polka, swing and set dances. At 9:00 we start the requests. Our repertoire stretches from 16th century Renaissance dances to mid 20th century. $5 drop in fee, no partner or dance experience required. Part of Dayton Historic Dance, we are a registered 501(c)3.

Join Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park as we host Astronomer Dean Regas on Saturday, March 30!
A total solar eclipse is the most spectacular natural event you can ever witness. The Moon glides slowly in front of the Sun and at just the right moment, in just the right place, the Moon completely covers the Sun. Astronomer and eclipse expert Dean Regas will tell you what to expect, where to go and how to safely observe and photograph a solar eclipse on April 8.
Mr. Regas is a renowned public speaker, author, educator, national popularizer of astronomy and an expert in observational astronomy.He served as the astronomer for the Cincinnati Observatory from 2000-2023. He is the author of six books including "100 Things to See in the Night Sky" and “How to Teach Grown-Ups About Pluto”. From 2010-2019 Dean was the co-host of the PBS program Star Gazers.
Dean has contributed to Astronomy Magazine, Sky and Telescope Magazine, Farmer's Almanac, USAToday, Science Friday and Here & Now. He is also the host of a popular astronomy podcast called "Looking Up with Dean Regas."
Dean brings the complicated field of astronomy down to Earth for people of all ages.
This event is FREE and open to the public!
