Event Description

Yellow Springs' Toadstool Shadow on Local Channel 5

"Elves, Unicorn, and Owl Star in New Local Music Video" Toadstool Shadow will premiere its first video single on Channel 5, Yellow Springs Community Access television, this Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 7:00pm. Toadstool Shadow is a new Yellow Springs music & arts collective. In the two videos, “Song of the Golden Unicorn” and “Spooky Owl,” a band of ragged elves hides in the bushes, playing their music in an effort to re-enchant the world. Besides a local cast of musical elves, the videos co-star a wild great horned owl, filmed in Glen Helen, and a wild unicorn, filmed at a secret location on the edge of Yellow Springs. Both songs are part of Toadstool Shadow’s forthcoming second album, Folk Songs of the American Wood Elf. Please tune in and support local art and local television! ***** Formed just this year, Toadstool Shadow debuted at Yellow Springs PorchFest 2019. There, they performed their original musical, Rainbow Nights (and Rainbow Days!), with a four-man band, two faerie dancers, an elf queen, and a white rabbit. Their music is elfcore bedroom pop music. It is neither blues-based, singer-songwriter, nor rock ‘n’ roll music. It sounds like Pink Floyd’s first album, if Pink Floyd started as a country band. ***** Please contact C.W.
