What's Great in Dayton: June 2 - 8, 2017


First Friday events are tonight and it is full of art, live entertainment, local music, dining specials, and more. It's also the kickoff for Pride weekend and the Greater Dayton LGBT Center kicks it off with the annual Affair on the Square tonight on Courthouse Square.

Mostly known for his architectural renderings, David Smith has drawn and painted most of the Dayton area and his prolific portfolio consists mostly of works on paper. The opening reception is tonight from 6 to 9 PM at Dayton Society of Artists. The exhibition features over 500 works spanning Smith's lengthy artistic career.

Now the Book Sale is back! The Friends of the Library Book Sale takes place today, 4:00 to 8:00 pm and Saturday 10am to 5 pm at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds. There is no charge for admission and parking. Everything is $1.00! Books, DVDs, CDs, Books on CD so stock up on your summer reading and entertainment.

Tecumseh Land Trust's Annual Meeting is Saturday, 2pm at Community Solution's new property at 131 Dayton-Yellow Springs Road. The meeting is open to the general public. Parking is limited, so carpooling or bicycling are encouraged.  Bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on during the meeting and wear comfortable clothes and good walking shoes so you can enjoy a walk on the property.

Sing Dayton is a night to sing in pop harmony with the Dayton community! This is on Saturday, 7 to 10pm in the Yellow Cab Tavern. This is the second round of Sing Dayton! They are connecting with old friends and new friends by harmonizing together to favorite pop songs. They want to connect with you and to SING with you.

On Sunday go to Aullwood's Farm and Nature Center from 1 to  5pm and there is no cost. Bring your family and friends to explore the six miles of trails, meet their animals, enjoy a wagon ride or look for native birds!
