| WYSO... A Brief History |
-
WYSO began broadcasting with 10 watts of power in 1957 with a four-hour broadcast day that featured locally produced public affairs, and music programming. As energy, and interest increased, the station grew. Over the past 40 years WYSO has enjoyed measured increases in audience and financial support.
-
Today, WYSO broadcasts with an output power of 37,000 watts. And with the addition of the BBC, our broadcast day has increased to twenty-four hours.
-
WYSO provides National Public Radio news services seven days a week, state and local news and information programming as well as traditional and contemporary music.
-
Recent construction projects have created the facility WYSO needs to provide a clear, consistent, reliable non-commercial educational broadcast service for the Miami Valley region.
-
WYSO's growth in service potential comes as the next generation of public broadcasting service and funding options are being debated. |
