Democrats are not giving up on the fight to restore some of the weekend voting opportunities that have been wiped out by the Republican dominated Ohio legislature during the past year. As Ohio Public Radio's Jo Ingles reports, the next battle will be this morning in Columbus.

Jerry Kenney is in for Emily McCord.  In this week's Politics Ohio he speaks with Chris Maloney with the Ohio Romney Campaign about: recent campaign stops for both Mitt Romney and VP pick Paul Ryan, Ryan's addition to the ticket, campaign strategy in the swing state (including pulling in the youth vote), and how the Romney campaign is working to give other Republicans like Josh Mandel (senate candidate) a boost. 

According to the latest Rasmussen poll,  Republican challenger Josh Mandel now runs even with incumbent Democratic Senator Sherrod Brown in Ohio’s U.S. Senate race.  WYSO's Jerry Kenney has the details.

The telephone survey of likely voters in Ohio shows Mandel and Brown each earning 44% support.  Three percent surveyed favored some other candidate in the contest, and nine percent remain undecided.

In an email to supporters, Sarah Benzing, campaign manager for Friends of Sherrod Brown credited special interest money for Mandel’s rise in the polls.

Last night, Republican Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan spoke at his alma mater, Miami University in Oxford.  As WYSO’s Jerry Kenney reports, Ryan’s status as an alumnus won him a hometown-like reception, but what he had to say also struck a chord with students there. 

In less than an hour, Republican Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan will speak at his alma mater, Miami University in Oxford.  Ryan graduated from Miami University in 1992. 

Tyler Sinclair with Miami University’s College Republicans says students there are excited to have an alum on the presidential ticket.  He believes even students who voted for President Barack Obama in the last election may swing their votes over to Mitt Romney, but not just because he’s “one of them.”
