Proposed Congressional map lumps 2 Ohio GOP seats

US House member Mike Turner says a proposed new Congressional map for Ohio combines his district with that of a fellow Republican. That could set up a possible face-off.

A spokesman for Turner said today (Monday) that the plan combines the districts of Turner and U.S. Rep. Steve Austria. Turner, a former Dayton mayor, has comfortably won Ohios 3rd district in every election since 2004.

Groups Want Wright-Patt Kept in 2 Congress Districts

DAYTON, Ohio - Regional officials are urging that Wright-Patterson Air Force Base stay split between two southwest Ohio congressional districts to maintain its clout in Washington.

On Tuesday, the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce and the Dayton Development Coalition sent a letter to Gov. John Kasich and state legislative leaders. The groups expressed concern that redistricting could place the base within just one district. They say that could threaten efforts to protect Wright-Patt and its more than 27,000 workers.

Redrawing of Ohio Legislative Districts Begins

TOLEDO, Ohio - A panel dominated by Republicans will begin the task of redrawing congressional district lines for the next 10 years.

What's known as the Ohio Apportionment Board meets for the first time Thursday. The board members are the governor, state auditor and secretary of state - who are all members of the GOP - plus one lawmaker from each party.
