So many things are going on….can you take a long break??? Now there is a play called Gem of the Ocean. This is one of August Wilson's famed "Pittsburgh Cycle," ten plays about residents of that city's Hill District. It's a mixture of fantasy and harsh reality, as 285-year old Aunt Ester leads a community for whom slavery is an all-too-vivid memory.  Visit humanrace theatre.org.

Downtown Dayton LGBT Film Festival Begins Friday

The sixth annual Downtown Dayton LGBT Film Festival starts next Friday, September 23rd . And this is the only time many of these films will be screened in Ohio. Festival founder and director Jonathan McNeal sat down with WYSO Community Voices Producer Liz Cambron – to talk about some of his personal favorites.

"There are certainly some films that stand out for me. Weekend is one that's the closing night film and not only the best of the festival but also one of the best films of the year. There's a short that I love that's in the Top Drawer Shorts collection which screens on Saturday afternoon, and that is I Don't Want to Go Back Alone which is a little foreign short which has been winning awards all over the world and it's just spectacular.
