What's Great in Dayton: January 13 - 19, 2012

This whole weekend is the Muse Machine’s musical The Wizard of OZ.This show has all star kids all over the region with true professional Broadway coaches . They’re doing a superb show at the Victoria.

And at the Schuster there are Three Phantoms in Concert. These guys have all been leading tenors in that famous show and they will be doing all kind of Broadway tunes.  Check it out daytonphilharmonic.org

Muse Machine introduces kids of all ages to various forms of art, creativity, artistic expression, and how those things can make a difference in their lives.  In their 30th year of bringing young talent to the Dayton stage, Muse Machine takes on a beloved musical fantasy – The Wizard of Oz!

Muse Machine Executive Director Resigns

Today Dayton's arts education organization, Muse Machine announced that Executive Director Luke Dennis is stepping down later this year to work at Harvard University.

Dennis will serve as the curator of the Harvard Theatre Collection. Founded 100 years ago, it was the first of its kind in the United States. It contains manuscripts, letters and diaries from actors, directors , choreographers and many others. Dennis will oversee promotion of the collection and the acquisition of new pieces from current members of the theatre community.

"It contains miles of shelf space and map cases and boxes full of anything that could be used to document performance. The George Balanchine papers are there for example," says Dennis.
